Transferring to NCU
You must submit an application for admission by paper or online at http://www.northwestchristian.edu/admissions/apply.htm (no fee to apply!), and official transcripts from ALL previously attended colleges or universities in order to transfer in to Northwest Christian University.
Students with fewer than 24 semester (36 quarter) credits must also submit final High School transcripts and official SAT or ACT scores to be considered for admission.
Transcript Evaluation and Credit Transfer
Once the application for admissions and all transcripts are received an evaluation of your transcripts will be prepared. The evaluation allows you to see how many credits will transfer in and what NCU general education requirements are satisfied by your previous courses.
Credit is granted only for college-level course work with a grade C- or higher from a regionally accredited institution. Credit transfer is considered on a case-by-case basis for courses from institutions that do not meet this requirement.
The Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer degree (AAOT) satisfies all Northwest Christian University general education requirements with the exception of Bible and Christian Theology and chapel requirements. You must complete a minimum of 30 semester credits at NCU to receive a Bachelor’s degree.
Articulation Agreements & Transfer Guides
An articulation agreement is a contract between schools as to which courses transfer between them. NCU holds these agreements with schools such as Lane Community College, Umpqua Community College, and Pioneer Pacific College.
Transfer guides are available if you are looking for guidance as to which courses you can take elsewhere and successfully transfer to NCU. In addition to those colleges that we have articulation agreements with, transfer guides are offered for Chemeketa Community College, Linn-Benton Community College, Southwestern Oregon Community College, and Portland Community College.
Transfer Student Academic Achievement Scholarship
The Transfer Student Academic Achievement Scholarship is a $2,000 scholarship awarded to five incoming daytime undergraduate transfer students at Northwest Christian University. Eligible students must have a transferrable GPA of 3.5 or above, be admitted to NCU for the 2009-2010 academic year, and submit an essay in response to a given question by March 1st 2008.
The competition will be held at Northwest Christian University on March 13th 2008. The competition includes an in person interview with the scholarship committee, chapel, campus tour, class visits, and lunch. Students must attend the event in order to be eligible for one of the five $2,000 scholarships.
Students returning to NCU or transferring in with a previous Bachelor’s degree are not eligible.

Quarter-Semester Credit Conversion
All quarter credits accepted at Northwest Christian University are converted into and reported in semester credit hours. Semester credits are calculated by dividing the total number of quarter credits by 1.5.
Post Baccalaureate Students
If you hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and wish to complete a second bachelor’s degree at NCU, you must complete 8 semester credits of the Biblical and Christian foundations in the core requirements and the requirements for an academic major. A minimum of 30 semester credits from NCU is required in order to graduate.
If you received your bachelor’s degree from NCU you may complete a second major upon completion of an additional 30 semester credits in another subject field at NCU not closely related to a field already completed.
College Credits earned in High School
Northwest Christian accepts college credit earned at your high school when the courses are transcripted through an accredited college or university and the grade earned is C- or better. In order to transfer this credit to NCU you must complete the transcript evaluation process by submitting final official transcripts from the college or university as well as apply for admission.
