Admission Requirements
Admission for International Business Administration
(IMBA)
NCU welcomes applications from HTIR into an International
MBA program with concentrations in management and health care
administration. Applicants who are not immigrants or citizens of
the United States are considered for admission as international
students. Evidence of proficiency in the English language is a
prerequisite for admission. Applicants from non-English speaking
countries are required to provide official results from the Test of
English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or equivalent test. A score
of 213 (computer based) or 80 (internet based) or 550 (paper based)
is required for admission consideration. As part of their
application, international applicants also must submit current and
reliable documentation of their ability to pay the full cost of
education and living expenses for the entire degree program.
To apply for admission, an international applicant
should submit the following (to be coordinated with
HTIR):
- A completed NCU and HTIR Co-op Application for
Admission (click here for the application)
- Official transcripts: A bachelor's degree, or
proof of equivalency, is required for admission into the IMBA
program. Under normal circumstances, official transcripts are
required.
- English Proficiency: The results of the Test
of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) are required if English is
not the student's native language. If there is sufficient
documentation from a university showing that the university classes
were all taught in English, then the admission committee will
review documents and information for English proficiency as well.
Because the TOEFL exam is given only a limited number of times each
year, the applicant should allow sufficient time for the results to
be included in the admissions process. Applicants must make their
own testing arrangements with Educational Testing Service (ETS) at
its web site http://www.ets.org/, via email toefl@ets.org.
- Resume & Personal Statement
- Application Fee: A non-refundable $50.00
application fee is due upon arrival.
- Two Letters of Recommendation
- Financial Documentation: All Financial
supporting documents must be certified, verified, notarized or
attested by a third party (not by HTIR or any agent). All financial
documents must also be current, (preferably within the month of
application, but not greater than three months old). Bank
statements must be translated into English, have the amount in US
dollars, have record of the account holder's name and account
number, and signed by a bank official (signature should also be
printed or typed/near the signature, bank stamped and dated and on
the bank letterhead which has all contact information). In some
cases, a sponsor letter (if not self supporting) must be attested
or notarized by an official third party. This sponsor letter must
have the sponsor and student names and support intent must be
declared. In order for an I-20 to be processed, the amount of
liquid funds or support must be equal to or greater than the cost
of attendance of the first academic year. This is based upon our
cost of attendance calculation listed below.
- Health Insurance: Health insurance is required
for international students and can be coordinated with Student
Development.
- Immunization: In order to comply with Oregon
law regarding a second dose of measles vaccination for college
students, Northwest Christian University has developed the
following policy: Every full-time student born on or after January
1, 1957 must provide the school with evidence of having received
two doses of measles vaccine on or after his/her first birthday
with a minimum of thirty days between doses. If month and year of
the first dose are not available, documentation of the second dose
in or after December 1989 must be provided. The dates must be
accompanied by the student's signature. Students may be exempt from
the immunizations if: religious beliefs prohibit immunization, a
medical condition prevents the use of the vaccine, documentation is
provided of adequate measles titer, or documentation is provided of
having had the disease. This policy will be in effect beginning
June 1, 2007. All students entering on or after this date must
provide evidence of immunization in order to be allowed to register
for courses. Northwest Christian University will use the
following procedure to assure compliance: Each entering student
will be required to present documentation of immunization or
legitimate exemption, either by mail or in person to the Student
Development Office, located on the second floor of the Morse Event
Center, before registration. The documentation must be signed by
the student.
International Process
Once all financial conditions have been met, the
Certificate of Eligibility (I-20) will be able to be issued by a
Designated School Official (DSO). Please note that students who
come to study on an I-20/F-1 Visa must register as full-time
students. Please note that the regulations regarding the issuing of
student visas may change at any time. It is the student's
responsibility to investigate requirements through the local United
States Consulate. International students approved for admission are
mailed a letter of acceptance and Certificate of Eligibility I-20.
In order to enroll, international students are expected to pay
their bill in full at the beginning of each semester. The
application must be completed with NCU International MBA program
selected and much be signed by the student. The student must choose
a major from the list of options on the application (no write-ins).
All names and addresses must be printed legibly. The Passport must
