Program Structure
Our full-time, cohort-style program offers a course schedule
that allows students the opportunity for continued employment.
Students take one course at a time, meeting one evening a week for
5 weeks plus one Saturday session per course. Practica courses meet
a second evening a week during most of the 1st year.
The 48-semester credit curriculum consists of coursework in
counseling theories and foundations, integrated with applied
clinical experience of two terms of practica and 12 credits of
internship experience in the community. Classes are small,
discussion-oriented, and geared to practical application. All
program faculty are professional clinicians who provide diverse
theoretical backgrounds and assist students in developing their own
personal approach to counseling.
The capstone of the program is a three-semester, 12 credit
internship in the second year when students work 16 hours a week in
a counseling agency in the community and receive supervision from
professional counselors or psychologists. Our students do not pay
extra for that supervision.
