Brian teaches a wide variety of courses in both the
undergraduate teacher education program as well as the graduate
program here at NCU. Courses include Classroom Relations and
Management, Adolescent Development, Technology for Teaching,
Foundations in Education and Language Arts Methods for Middle and
High School.
Brian also serves as the program advisor for the Masters of
Education program.
Brian served in secondary education for seventeen years,
teaching language arts and a wide variety of elective courses.
Brian's teaching methods have emphasized extensive
interdisciplinary integration of emerging technologies such as
streaming media, podcasting, digital media production and tools for
distance learning.
Brian has extensive experience developing and implementing
hybrid learning environments using Moodle. He has also served as a
mentor teacher and Instructional Technology Coordinator, teaching
new and veteran teachers practical and effective strategies for
engaging learners. Areas of current research include studies of
student-directed and project-based learning environments for
addressing individual learner needs.
Brian enjoys living in Eugene with his wife, four children,
seven chickens and five goats.
