All types of financial aid are offered, from academic scholarships to need-based awards to government loans. Priority Deadline: March 1
(Admissions, Financial Aid, and FAFSA)
Students who meet the March 1 priority deadline are assured of maximum consideration for all scholarships and financial aid.
Types of Financial Aid
Academic Scholarships ($2,000-$15,000)
Scholarships are offered on a sliding scale to first year students with at least a 3.00 unweighted GPA and either a 900 (Math and Critical Reading) SAT score or 19 composite ACT score or higher. Transfer scholarships are awarded to students with at least a 3.00 cumulative, transferrable GPA or higher and are also eligible for competitive scholarships. The Merit Scholarship Worksheet is required to receive an academic scholarship. Ethical leadership development bonuses are contingent upon and in addition to the Academic Base Award. Bonuses are given for demonstrated leadership in youth groups, churches, mission trips, student government, athletics, and other programs. Renewable for up to four years with a 3.00 cumulative GPA at NCU.
Visit Scholarship ($500)
New students who visit the campus on a formal visit are eligible for a one-time scholarship. Contact the Admissions Office for more details or
schedule a visit.
Heritage Grant ($2,500)
Available to students with membership in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) or the Christian Churches (Churches of Christ) at the time of admission. Renewable for up to four years.
Talent Awards (Amount varies)
Awards made in recognition of exceptional ability in music and athletics. Awarding decisions and amounts are determined by the Music Director and respective coaches.
Church Matching Program (Up to $1,000)
NCU will match funds gifted to students from churches, up to a maximum of $1,000 per year. For those attending one semester in an academic year, the maximum is $500. Churches need to submit an application available from the Financial Aid Office. Students must be full-time undergraduates and the church funds need to be sent directly to Northwest Christian. The gift and matching amount will be placed in the student's account, and applied to his/her charges. Matching funds are available Fall and Spring semesters only.
Heritage Minister's/Missionary's Child Grant ($4,000)
Available to dependents of ordained or licensed ministers, and/or dependents of missionaries in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) or the Christian Churches (Churches of Christ). Awarded in lieu of the Heritage Grant. The grant is renewable for up to four academic years.
